When winter arrives, our northern friends start checking in with us a little more often. They are ready to trade the snow shovel for a beach shovel, and they’re looking for the best place to relax and enjoy the warm ocean breeze.

Planning a winter escape is why organizations such as Travel Channel have put together a list of cities with some of the best beaches in Florida. Have you visited all 5?

1. Key West Florida

Known for its crystal blue waters, it’s brightly colored houses, and it’s never-ending celebration lifestyle, Key West has incredibly recognizable beaches. Places such as Smathers Beach are filled with oceanside activities, and boaters love taking off from Higgs Beach. After you’ve toured the Hemingway House and had some conch fritters for lunch, check out the Southernmost Point for a photo op.

2. Palm Beach Florida

As the home of the Kennedys, the Flagler family, and many nouveau riche, Palm Beach works to maintain its beaches. Peanut Island is the paradise within paradise for many beachgoers, with its white sands and isolated location. Onshore, keep an eye out when you’re strolling across the sand – you’ll find some of the most luxurious hotels and residences in the area.

3. Miami Florida

The preferred beaches for fun seekers, beaches at Miami are covered in sun worshippers, swimmers, restaurants, cafes, and stores. Come music festival season in early spring, they’ll be filled with revelers, too! From South Pointe Park, you can see the cruise ships taking off and returning, while watching the residents of Miami come and go.

4. Clearwater Beach Florida

Beautiful white sand and clear, shallow water make Clearwater Beach a popular playground for families. From the activity along the palm-lined Beach Walk Promenade to the serene shores of Sand Key Park, you’re sure to find your perfect spot in the sand. Rent a cabana or beach chair and beach umbrella from a local vendor or walk toward the more residential north side for a little serenity away from the bustling scene. Stress less with free parking in downtown Clearwater and hop on the Clearwater Ferry for a traffic-free, sunshine-filled ride to the beach.

5. Delray Beach Florida

Carefully maintained by organizations such as the Downtown Delray Beach Authority, the two miles of beachfront in this small seaside town are known to be some of the most gorgeous. Every resident feels responsible to keep the beaches low traffic and clean, resulting in its pristine nature. Here is where you have plenty of space to swim, surf, and suntan without stepping on someone else’s beach towel, or coming onto someone else’s property.

Spending one day on the beach at Delray is enough to convince anyone as to why it’s so popular. City laws carefully protect oceanfront property, but there’s one new opportunity for buyers to get closer than ever to the waterfront.

Ocean Delray is Delray Beach’s most exciting and exclusive new oceanfront development in 30 years. The 19 highly-appointed, 3 bedroom plus den to 4 bedroom plus den residences will range from 3,300 square feet to more than 4,600 square feet – and rival any single-family home anywhere in South Florida. Prices start at $5 million. Groundbreaking is scheduled for early 2019. Completion is projected for late 2020. The project, designed by architect Randall Stofft, is being co-developed by NRIA and US Construction with exclusive representation by IMI Living. Currently, reservations are by appointment only. To schedule an appointment, interested buyers can contact (800) 793-9783.
