There are locations all over the United States that can be identified by their landmarks. Think of the Cloud Gate sculpture in Chicago, the Golden Gate Bridge in San Francisco, and the neon colored walls of Pineapple Grove! Just one glance around this shopping district, and you know that you’re in Delray Beach’s art district! Named after the sweet fruit that used to grow here, the Pineapple Grove region evolved from farmland into an arts district in the late 20th century. Now it has become the place that locals head to when they want their fill of culture, music, and a vibrant nightlife. You could fill a whole weekend here, and we put our own itinerary together to prove it. Grab some close friends and head out-you never know what you’ll find at Pineapple Grove!
Friday
Buzz by Delray Camera Shop to get everything that you need to snap that amazing social media photo (and get a selfie by their mural!). Friday nights mean live music at Old School Square. Get there around seven to hear the best of up and coming artists. Once you’ve had your fill, stop by Two Fat Cookies and quell your sweet tooth with cakes and cookies. Try the Thousand Islands cookie-you won’t regret it!
Saturday
Start your day off right with breakfast at Christina’s. The bright, tropical décor, the fluffy omelets, and the mixed drinks for breakfast help put you in the mood to take on the day! You’ll need that energy for shopping through Pineapple Grove. When you can find cute combination salon boutiques such as Glavidia by Glavidia Alexis, markets such as the Delray Green Market at Old School Square, and galleries such as The MAE Gallery, you may not be able to contain yourself. Get refreshed at the Indigo Studio Day Spa, with their lines of natural treatments and rejuvenating products. Who knows? Maybe you’ll try a new hairstyle, or find a unique look that works for you!
Sunday
Brule Bistro is the place to be for brunch, with its farm to table methods serving up delicious sandwiches, breads, and mixed cocktails. Grab an Old Fashioned with a Breakfast Club sandwich and a side of Banana Walnut Bread, and savor in the mix of flavors offered up to you. Pay a visit to the Addison Gallery to see works done by local artists, and admire their use of color to communicate mood in their art. After that, take some time to enjoy some window-shopping and people watching. Take in as much as you can, because you won’t see something like Pineapple Grove for a long time!
